Launched in 2020 in Leuven, Stadsmakersfonds is a cooperative enabling citizens to take part in the developments of their city by financing projects that make sense to them. The cooperative invests in innovative projects for the redevelopment and rehabilitation of old, underutilized buildings that form part of Belgium's heritage. Its aim is to create infrastructures with a societal impact in the fields of well-being, local and circular economy, and community to make neighborhoods more dynamic, sustainable and inclusive. To date, Stadsmakersfonds has attracted over 200 cooperators and aims to invest 10 million euros in ten projects over the next few years.
